Genesee Valley Rocambole Garlic

Learn about our family-run farm, our commitment to quality garlic, and our journey from garden to table.

A heritage garlic shaped by place, history, and time.

Genesee Valley Rocambole is our own distinctive garlic variety, discovered growing wild along the historic Genesee Valley (Erie Railroad) rail bed bordering our farm. For generations, this rail line carried local travelers and notable figures alike—including Clara Barton—through the heart of the valley. Just beyond the tracks, this remarkable garlic quietly persisted, naturalized in heavy, wet clay soil for decades, if not longer.

We began intentionally cultivating this garlic five years ago and have been continually amazed by its performance. Compared to other rocambole strains, Genesee Valley Rocambole stands out for its exceptional bulb size, rich, full-bodied flavor, and unusually long storage life. While many rocamboles are known for short keeping quality, this strain reliably stores well into April following harvest, making it a true standout.

The flavor is classic rocambole—deep, robust, and complex—with a satisfying heat when raw that mellows into a rich, savory sweetness when cooked. Its long adaptation to challenging soil conditions has produced a garlic that is both resilient in the field and dependable in storage.

Genesee Valley Rocambole is more than a garlic—it is a living piece of local agricultural history, shaped by the land, the climate, and time itself.
